Ecology integrated into the school curriculum
How it works ?
The ecology integrated into the school program is not to be invented or tested. It is applicable now and has proven itself in many establishments with methodologies proven over several years, and at all levels.
The first step: for anyone wishing to participate in the challenge of ecology , food production and more simply to integrate the principles of sustainable development within schools is based on the reading of the " EDD circular from the Ministry of National Education ". From there, the teaching staff and the resource persons are able to understand the expectations of the institution and to initiate a transposition of the school programs towards innovative formats adapted to the integration of a project. EDD (Ecology for Sustainable Development). This approach responds to the 2030 agenda of the United Nations . Supporting teachers and local authorities is a priority in order to respond effectively and to keep our contractual commitments in terms of ecological transition .
The second step: to start, the project is based on the mobilization of human resources and the use of a computer tool for monitoring and exchange. It's about dividing up tasks and coordinating. To do this, it is necessary to create a Steering Committee (on the basis of the voluntary participation of teachers) within which several specific groups distribute the work by theme (energy, transport, recycling, garden and production, communication and awareness, etc.). ..).
The committee sets objectives and a timetable. Institutions can invite all other teachers to enroll in one of the thematic units. Each of the interested teachers transposes the notions and abilities to work with their students into an action dedicated to the chosen theme. Using a project management or data sharing software package such as LEIA, for example, makes it possible, thanks to cloud computing, to make exchanges and access to information fluid and to archive all the data.
Once the human resources have been mobilized, the "Rêv'olution" team offers its services to set up a Steering Committee. Throughout the process, it offers the possibility to teachers to follow a cycle of micro-training (adapted to the school rhythm) accompanied by tools for integrating the principles of sustainable development. These systemic tools are intended to adapt to the particularities of schools from kindergarten to university, they concretely make it possible to match the EDD and E3D approach to the expectations of the notions and capacities of the official bulletins of the national education programs. . We support the managers of specific units in the integration of these tools and in the overall architecture of the labeling project.
Get involved at the regional level
It is important to set up training places and support all territorial structures by relying on tools to increase the potential for food security . Indeed, the Corona-virus crisis has highlighted the fragility of our overly dependent system , endangering all citizens regardless of their social level. Consequently, it is urgent to worry about bringing back a more sustainable ratio of independence with regard to our food production in order to gain in responsiveness to emergency situations, to pass from a suffered state to a state mastered.
The priority of learning knowledge about the functioning of ecology as well as respect and new resilient behaviors constitute the spearhead to achieve this essential objective to our balance. Supporting educational structures to make students aware of health nutrition , responding to the challenge of food waste and that of recycling bio-waste is essential . Eventually, all these steps will allow of promote agriculture that does not pollute our soils, protecting the health of citizens. Education, awareness and support for ecology must become an unequivocal pillar within National Education, an essential institution for raising awareness among as many young people as possible.
All the steps to introduce, adapt and launch an EDD program in schools for all levels is possible, reproducible and adaptable . To do this , supporting teachers in the ecological transition without increasing their workload is essential.
The main lines of action are:
Simplify the approaches of the school program to integrate the notions of ecology and support them during the time of training and the integration of materials .
Rely on awareness programs that integrate all the dimensions necessary for a change in the ecological paradigm within the school curriculum.
Make elected officials aware of ecological realities and offer them feasible programs adapted to different territorial situations.
Helping the territories to make plots available to develop school gardens or market gardening could count on the help of schools in exchange for the transmission of knowledge and a commitment to supply municipal canteens with 50% organic vegetables near towns and villages.
Example of a step-by-step methodology at the scale of a territory
1. Training of future teachers to the INSPE .
2. Training for all audiences towards the creation of jobs for extra-curricular staff to support the teaching body towards ecology and sustainable development.
3. Setting implementation of EDD programs in all educational establishments (kindergartens, primary schools, colleges, high schools, universities).
4. Creation of food production and seed production gardens in schools and public institutions to implement EDD programs
5. Seasonal collective work sites, of general interest: solidarity weekend with farmers, individuals, people with reduced mobility, etc.
6. Creation of a circular economy.

PEDAGOGICAL TRUNKS
How to carry out an Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) project in your school?
Training available to acquire the tools of ecology and sustainable development?
How to learn school subjects through ecology?
And concretely, on the ground, how does it work?
And now, what do we do?
We support teachers and local communities to prioritize the ecological transition and the integration of Education for Sustainable Development (ESD) tools to participate in the validation of the achievements of the school programs.
The goal is to acquire the tools and skills to respond to the demands and challenges of the ministry's circular on ESD towards an upgrade of schools without overloading their programs.
