Permaculture gardens

This pilot project aims to create an ecological habitat, as well as a therapeutic and educational center, which will serve as a model and living reference for an integrative and symbiotic way of life with our natural environment. Everything will be surrounded by permacultural gardens of great beauty.

The educational center, built with state-of-the-art bio-construction and sacred geometry techniques, will also host ongoing research on agroecology, renewable energy and different aspects of sustainable living (see 8K permaaccounting ), offering workshops and conferences given by all types of professionals, including internationally renowned personalities in the field of new technologies, sciences, bio-architecture, permaculture, etc. As part of our retreat center, a reception center, a macrobiotic center will be created  and vegetarian and a small

shop of natural products, crafts, which will be developed in the community, as well as all kinds of products and materials that are consistent with our ideals of sustainability. In our commitment to perfection in a spirit of respectful relationship with the environment, we have embarked on the study of all areas that allow a human settlement to prosper in perfect symbiosis with Nature, not only without polluting or damaging it. 'damage, but also striving to repair and revitalize degraded ecosystems as creating new ecosystems already designed to integrate human presence in an environment of maximum abundance and self-sufficiency, in the continuous improvement of the richness of the ground. Alongside the retreat center, several sustainable houses with their respective permacultural gardens will be built to accommodate the project participants.

This initiative is co-financed by a whole team of professionals, integrated by families and individuals of different nationalities, who will help to raise and manage the center and will also finance their respective houses. A cooperative, a foundation, a company or any other format will be created that best meets the needs and aims of the project (open to suggestions to define the most suitable administrative framework).

The elements that build the foundations of the project

Permaculture and Agroforestry

118120157_10218109469352838_280896417941858794_n.jpg

We use permaculture and agroforestry systems to maximize biodiversity and long-term sustainability in food production, building materials, fabrics, supply of medicinal plants, etc., as well as the incorporation of art in natural beauty, creating multiple layers and complete ecosystems where the symbiosis between different species orchestrates unique and inspiring environments, which also provide, not only food and raw materials, but also joy, health and of peace of mind. Food production takes place in synergy with botanical art, attracting not only the curious, but a myriad of diverse birds and other animal species that can naturally aid in the prevention of plagues and strengthen the balance of the ecosystem.

We have over 10 years of experience working with permaculture/agroforestry/8K permaaccounting and we offer consultation, develop garden/farm designs and teach classes for different types of groups and ages. We offer our services locally and worldwide, please visit our websites for more information:     https://lejardindurock.wixsite.com/assorevolution

seed bank

A comprehensive and diverse seed bank will be created, protecting seed purity and quality, preserving ancestral varieties, encouraging seed exchange, and promoting self-management and self-sufficiency.

Natural products

According to our principles of protection of our waters, our land and the atmosphere, it is forbidden throughout the community the use of any contaminants, whether for agriculture, domestic use or personal hygiene. . Every product used in this colony will be natural and not harmful to the environment, preferably from our own or local production, and in sustainable packaging.

Renewable energies

In accordance with our principles, we will try to minimize the use of non-renewable energies and install clean energy devices as soon as possible, to meet the internal needs of the Retreat Center as well as the community.

water management

We consider that the Breton climate is optimal for the needs of the project. We do not need municipal treated water because we have developed other alternatives that we consider more ecological and healthy. We will certainly need the highest quality agricultural water available that we will use and treat for both agricultural and domestic use. As the food forest becomes established over time, the need for watering decreases exponentially and a whole microclimate is created in a whole new ecosystem.

We will use the following strategies:

  1. Proper distillation or filtering of water for domestic use

  2. Clever design of rills (leveled water channels) to maximize the use of rain and irrigation

  3. Creating beautiful ponds and "flow shapes" (special, artistic waterfalls in which water flows in endless spiral shapes that help energize and revitalize the water)

  4. Use special devices to capture dew, atmospheric humidity and rain

  5. Depending on the proximity to seawater of the chosen land, we will study the possibility of ecological desalination systems that can provide greater water autonomy.

Wastewater :

Water management will be restricted in accordance with ecological standards of phyto-purification, through various reservoirs with purification systems, using appropriate aquatic plants, beneficial microalgae and microbacteria, as well as filtering systems that allow the safe reuse of these waters for farming.

holistic health

rainforest-biome-eden-project-2015-©HuftonCrow-004.jpg

As a model of holistic health, in addition to promoting sustainability and local development in collaboration and fruitful exchange with other local organic farmers, our internal policy and our principles of deep respect for Nature, lead us to promote lifestyles that do not generate any form of animal suffering or exploitation. Animals should only be allowed to receive one type of food that comes exclusively from sustainable sources and to live in freedom and friendship with the rest of the members of the community. Hives are allowed, provided they are managed in a conscious and respectful way, extracting only a small percentage of honey (thanks to its medicinal properties), to allow the bees their own maintenance without the need to feed them with sugar or other techniques. Community members adhere to food habits; Essentially vegetarian associated courses will be taught in the centre. The infrastructure includes a small spa with swimming pool, sauna and hydrotherapy, as well as treatment rooms where visitors can also experience massage, naturopathy, phytotherapy, acupuncture, kinesiology, dietary advice, psychotherapy, etc., in the hands of a team of professionals.

Composting and soil creation

We use several methods for composting and improving soil life, including:

  1. Vermicompost

  2. Cultures of EM (effective microorganisms) and beneficial micro-bacteria

  3. Use of ground cover and mulch to help prevent evaporation and protect soil life. Also some species help restore nutrients and moisture suspended in the soil

  4. Use of legume species to generate organic matter and restore nitrogen to the soil as an effective means of fertilization

  5. Recovery of organic matter released into the neighborhood and the surrounding population, or its composting and subsequent enrichment of the soil (leftover food, pruning and weeding material, coffee grounds, cardboard, etc.)

Prevention and mitigation of pests with natural methods

We develop strategies that strengthen the immune system and plant health
We work with special biodynamic preparations of plants and microorganisms, to prevent and resolve potential parasites.
We are studying the use of possible controlled predators that can rebalance the ecosystem

Family units

Each family unit will build its own house and private garden of the size and design that suits its tastes and needs, while adhering to collective guidelines and planning for the distribution and management of water and waste, to ensure maximum hygiene and sanitation of spaces. The limits will preferably be marked with living hedges.

Social integration and economic viability

social-integration.png

Although the community is multicultural and multilingual, its aim is to integrate with the surrounding neighborhoods and communities, as well as local, regional and national authorities, including the European Union and the international community as a whole, in a spirit cooperation and mutual assistance. As a project with high and noble aims, we join forces with a multitude of NGOs (non-governmental organizations), associations and organizations, working tirelessly for a more humane, just, sustainable and healthy society, offering a living example of the principles taught. A percentage of the income generated by the courses will be redirected to provide scholarships to destitute or disadvantaged people to minorities who want to learn

and participate in various workshops and educational programs as well as allotment gardens. In addition, there will be a voluntary system. A percentage of the income from the therapy center will also allow the treatment of people without resources, who may need assistance in the various professional fields available. There will be specific workshops and courses for children and teenagers, and organized community tours for schools, universities and other interested groups.

Green Building:

The uniqueness and value, both architectural and holistic, of the retreat center and the community as a whole, will attract more conscious tourism and a multicultural interactive flow of people that will enrich Brittany as one of preferential global destinations in the field of sustainable development. The ambition of this project is to be self-financing, as well as all the activities: the proposed accommodation, the restaurant, ... The production and sale of organic food, natural products and crafts, will allow long-term and good maintenance of the facilities and the decent preservation of all the personnel involved in the management of the retreat center.

The project deserves the support of government institutions and bodies, as well as the Breton and French community as a whole, to facilitate its implementation within a legal framework, and allow this project to access all kinds of scholarships and grants. .
